Apple Xserve

The Apple Xserve G4/1.0 features a 1.0 GHz (1000 MHz) PowerPC 7455 (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit, 256k level 2 on-chip cache and 2 MB level 3 backside cache, 256 MB of PC2100 DDR SRAM, a 60.0 GB (7200 RPM) Ultra ATA/100 hard drive, a 24X CD-ROM drive, an ATI PCI graphics card with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM (ATI Radeon 8500 AGP 4X graphics card with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM optional), and dual 10/100/1000Base-T (Gigabit) Ethernet. The Xserve is designed for network intensive use and occupies 1U of an industry-standard 19" rack, the first Apple product ever designed to be rack-mounted. The Xserve is also the first Apple product to use DDR SDRAM, ATA/100 drives (four hot-plug), and dual Gigabit Ethernet. The Xserve ships with an unlimited user version of the UNIX-based MacOS X Server and custom server monitoring software pre-installed. Custom configurations were also available.
