The Apple Macintosh computer - price and description

Apple Xserve

The Apple Xserve G4/1.33 features dual 1.33 GHz (1333 MHz) PowerPC 7455 (G4) processors each with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit, 256k level 2 on-chip cache and 2 MB level 3 backside cache. This system ships with 512 MB of 333 MHz PC2700 DDR SDRAM, a 60.0 GB (7200 RPM) Ultra ATA/133 hard drive, a 24X CD-ROM drive (or optional DVD/CD-RW Combo drive), an ATI PCI graphics card with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM and a VGA connector (or an optional AGP 4X graphics card with 64 MB of DDR SDRAM, DVI, VGA, and S-video connections), and dual Gigabit Ethernet all in a 1U case that fits in an industry-standard 19" rack. The Xserve G4/1.33 DP is architecturally very similar to the earlier Xserve G4/1.0 DP, but in addition to having faster processors, it has a faster system bus, faster RAM, faster drives, and FireWire "800" support. Along with the Xserve G4/1.33 models, Apple also introduced the Xserve RAID, an external storage solution for the Xserve which features fourteen independent ATA/100 drive channels, dual independent RAID controllers with up-to 1 GB of controller cache memory, a dual 2.0 Gb Fibre Channel host, dual power supplies, and up to 2.5 TB (2500 GB) of storage. All Xserve systems ship with an unlimited user version of the UNIX-based MacOS X Server and custom server monitoring software pre-installed. Custom configurations are also available.
