The Apple Macintosh Server G4/500, based on the Sawtooth architecture, features a 500 MHz PowerPC 7400 (G4) processor with the AltiVec "Velocity Engine" vector processing unit and 1 MB of backside cache, 256 or 512 MB of RAM, a 18.0 or 36.0 GB Ultra2 SCSI hard drive (18.0 GB Ultra2 LVD SCSI hard drive after February 16, 2000), an ATI Rage 128 (Rage 128 Pro after February 16, 2000) video card with 16 MB of SDRAM, and a pre-installed copy of either AppleShare IP or MacOS X Server in a translucent graphite and white tower case with a fold down door on the side that makes upgrading very easy. Custom configurations were also available.
